It's a good way to get together and just enjoy the river! It's a needs a little bit of clean up but it's still peaceful!
Today made visit to sit look at river from a park bench could just barely see river for over grown brush between bench and river grass was cut park clean BUT no view of river from the bench
Nice area for father son time. We'll maintained, great fishing at certain times
The Appomattox River is beautiful. There's no official path along it, just a dirt path that's been worn by visitors, many of whom left glass bottles and trash everywhere. The amount of broken glass is disheartening because this could be a really pretty park. As another reviewer said, it needs cleaned up, badly. Putting in a paved path on the side of the river backing up to downtown Petersburg might help revitalise the area. We didn't stay long here because we were afraid of our dog stepping on broken glass. Too bad.
I love this place! There is no playground or picnic tables but it is a great place to enjoy the river. The water is clear so you can see the fish swimming and the ducks and geese are pretty darn awesome! Just make sure you take them some food when you go!
